As Chattanooga car accident lawyers, we see a lot of cases that deal with the aftermath of accidents involving large trucks, tractor-trailers and 18-wheelers. However, we know that the average Tennessee residents doesn’t have the same visibility into this issue.
That’s why we like to share stories that demonstrate just how easy it is for a large vehicle, like a semi, to get into an accident and cause a lot of destruction.
Recently, a truck struck a railroad overpass on East 11th Street. The Chattanooga Times-Free Press reports that the impact of the truck striking the overpass visibly damaged both the overpass and the truck. The driver was taken to a hospital, but it’s unclear whether he suffered any serious injuries.
Apparently, the accident happened because the driver of the truck did not fully retract the truck’s mechanical arm. In our work as personal injury attorneys, we are all too familiar with stories that start with a moment of inattentiveness just like this. Perhaps it’s a truck driver failing to check their rear-view mirror, or maybe it’s a motorist thinking it’s okay to check his phone very quickly. In far too many cases, this mere heartbeat of lapsed focus results in property damage or injury.
If you are ever hurt in a motorcycle, car or truck accident and you think it would be good to talk with a personal injury attorney, we would like you to know that you are free to contact us at any time. We help residents of Chattanooga after they have been hurt by someone else’s negligence.
