School bus involved in fatal Chattanooga accident

Last week, a school bus crash in McMinn County injured several students. The accident was caused by an automobile driver who sped around the bus in a no-passing zone, slammed head-on into another vehicle, then crashed into the side of the bus. Although none of the students received serious injuries, several were treated at a local hospital after the accident. Officials indicated that the driver of the car was charged with reckless driving, and he too was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained.

Although this specific crash didn’t result in the death of innocent children, there have been numerous accounts of students in bus crashes that didn’t turn out quite this way. Personal injury attorneys handle these types of cases regularly, ensuring the young passengers receive a fair compensation for the medical debt and suffering they fall victim to.

At times, families have to deal with the death of their child, typically at the hand of drunk drivers wheeling their cars out of control and causing these buses to overturn or run completely off the road. Restitution must be paid in these instances, and although no amount of money can bring back a child, the medical bills still mount up and the lives of the parents are forever changed.

Another cause of bus accidents can be when companies fail to meet safety standards that protect passengers. Traveling on dangerous roadways, non-compliance with regular maintenance requirements to ensure the bus is operating properly, and hiring drivers with inadequate training can bring about accidents that result in injuries and wrecks. Unbelievably, in some cases an intoxicated bus driver is responsible for these accidents, but at the end of the day, the responsibility falls back to the company who operates the bus and you may have grounds for legal action.
