Volkswagen key at the Chattanooga assembly line

Volkswagen Adds 200 New Jobs to Chattanooga Plant

Volkswagen Group of America is adding 200 jobs to its Chattanooga, Tenn. assembly plant.

The Chattanooga factory builds the Pasat sedan and currently produces an average of 31 cars per day over the course of two shifts.

The hard work of the 200 new employees will allow the plant to build 35 cars per day.

Volkswagen aims to sell one million cars in the U.S. by 2018. Though they are selling more automobiles each year, they still only sell a fraction of what their competition, Toyota, sells.

To meet VW’s short- and long-term sales goals, it is likely that a new daily quota for Pasat production will be set. Employees at the Chattanooga plant will need to enhance their performance on the assembly line to ensure production efficiency.

While the new openings are terrific for the local economy, the workers’ compensation lawyers at the McMahan Law Firm also see the growth as a reminder of the issue of workers’ comp in Chattanooga.

In a factory environment, employees can often face repetitive stress injuries. Sometimes, negligence (on the part of an employee or the company they work for) in high-production assembly environments can lead to severe injury with lasting implications.

If you are employed in an assembly line capacity, do not allow yourself to be pushed too far in your job. Efficiency is radically different from speed. A responsible employer like VW certainly understands this and will make sure their employees are protected from repetitive stress and accident injuries by putting in place the correct safety precautions. Workers’ compensation benefits are there to support employees who are injured on the job.

If, however, your employer fails to implement safety measures and you are injured on the job, you could be entitled to compensation above and beyond your workers’ compensation allowance.

If you do find yourself injured on the job, the worker’s compensation lawyers in Chattanooga can help.

“The Insiders” at the McMahan Law Firm have a combined total of more than 80 years legal experience. They have garnered more than $20 million for injured employees throughout the southeast.

The personal injury lawyers at the  McMahan Law Firm do not see workers’ compensation claims that result from employer negligence as an accident. In such an instance, you are a victim. What happened was a “conscious disregard for the safety of others.” Make sure you pursue the damages you deserve. Not only are you entitled to medical reimbursement, but also pain and suffering compensation.

The attorneys at McMahan can help you get what’s rightfully yours.
